This was written for my friend who was killed in a car accident May 15, 1999. Holy fuck….10 years ago! Doesnt even seem possible to have been that long. Time really does fly. I wrote this a day or two after he was killed and had given it to his brother & sister in law who were close friends of mine. They asked me to read it at his funeral….I fought back tears & faced my fear of public speaking and read this in his honor.
Today its been 10 years….never forgotten my friend.
Farewell dear friend~
A young man grows up before our eyes….
Now we ask ourselves why….
Why did it end this way?
There was so much left to say….
Why does this pain hurt so bad?
What will happen to the friend we had?
He was so young……
His life barely begun….
His future was so open and bright….
How could it all end one tragic night?
He was a son, brother, uncle and friend….
His memory and spirit will never end…..
This pain can only last for so long….
Eventually our lives will go on……
His memory will always be in our hearts….
Through this we will never be apart……
We say farewell for now Pay….
Until we meet again that glorious day….
We can rest assured he is not alone…..
But that he has found his enternal home……

It’s so strange (can’t think of a better word) when we look back and think “I can’t believe it’s been so many years since he/she passed”. It’s been a little over 4 years since my mom passed and sometimes it feels like just yesterday and sometimes it feels like SO much longer than that.

It is so hard to lose a great person so young. Sounds like he was a great man and this is a great tribute to his legacy.
